CATAMA BUILDERS, LTD.
The company was founded in 1998 and started building townhomes for Parra Design Group, Ltd. The first project, Yupon Place, was 4 townhomes that were the cover story in Texas Architect in May 2001. The article related how the architect integrated the city’s new setbacks in the design of the townhomes. Fairview Townhomes, a twin townhouse project designed by Parra Design Group, Ltd. and built in 2001, received a 2004 AIA Houston Merit Award. Both projects were located in the Montrose area of Houston. The projects evolved into townhouse developments, with the buildings grouped on a bigger lot with a common courtyard/driveway starting with Las Cicadas in 2000, eight townhomes which won a 2002 AIA Houston Merit Award for the architect, Parra Design Group, Ltd. City Promenade was built as a gated community in midtown from 2002–2005. These townhomes were grouped on a wider driveway which allowed for trees to be planted down the middle, creating a communal space and easier garage access.
The projects grew in scale with the start of Upper West End, built in the Heights Military District from 2004–2015. Blocks of lots were assembled, the townhomes built in phases and sold, with the designs and construction evolving with customer demand. Bastrop Plaza, built in the Third Ward from 2005–2014, followed a similar strategy.
We currently have two development projects underway, both started in 2014. Fifth Ward Homes in Houston’s historic Fifth Ward, are 2-story, two and three bedroom freestanding townhomes built two to a lot with five floor plans available. La Ville St. Emanuel in Houston’s Third Ward, is comprised of 4-story townhomes with rooftop terraces and garage access through an interior drive/landscaped courtyard.
All these projects feature open floor plans with interior finishes that include hardwood floors, granite countertops, tiled baths, and custom cabinetry.
